Travis: Hey Look I Have a Blog! Part 3
This semester I’m taking Differential Equations, Physics 2, Thermodynamics, EPICS I, and Material and Energy Balances. EPICS is a design course where we work in teams of five on an engineering project throughout the semester, and Material and Energy Balances is the first major specific class in the Chemical Engineering curriculum. For EPICS this semester’s project is to build a battle bot, which should be a bunch of fun. This semester is shaping up to be tougher academically than last. That is to be expected I guess though, especially since ChemE has a reputation as being one of the toughest majors on campus. So far my favorite class is Physics, because electricity and magnetism are really freaking cool to learn about.
I think that about sums up my life at Mines in a nutshell. I love it here. A LOT!!!! I think it takes a special type of person to fit in at Mines, and I am glad to say that I am that type of person. It is not easy to describe the type of person that will thrive at Mines, but I think what is most important is a deep seated love of math and science. Those are the things that people come here to learn, and when you love what you’re learning and what you’re doing, it’s really hard to be unhappy. I love that this school is a challenge and I love being surrounded by so many people who are interested in the same things as me and who like to be challenged like I do.
Wow. That is a lot of words. It’s probably too many words in fact. So I am done writing words for now. Here are some more of the most excellent pictures from my Mines experience thus far, because pictures are way more interesting than words.

This was taken at D’Deli, a delicious sandwich shop that Chelsea and Trevor and I discovered in downtown Golden on Washington Avenue. I can’t believe we haven’t gone back yet, because it was really really good. |
