  Have an excellent academic record
  Have financial need as determined by fafsa (www.fafsa.ed.gov)
  Are planning to pursue a Ph.D.
  Are planning a career in teaching or research
  Are not ineligible to receive assistance under 34 CFR 75.60 (in default on a Federal loan)
  Are citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the United States; provide evidence from the Immigration and Naturalization Service that they are in the United States for other than a temporary purpose with the intention of becoming permanent residents; or are citizens of any one of the Freely Associated States (the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau)
Summary:

The funding provides outstanding benefits and opportunities to students pursuing a Ph.D. in areas such as mitigation of environmental impacts from mill tailings, post-stabilization of uranium insitu recovery systems, microbial attenuation of radionuclides, and radionuclide mobility. Students will also participate in collaborative research with an industrial or national laboratory partner.

Unocal International Fellowship in Petroleum Studies

Eligibility: Students interested in pursuing a career in the petroleum industry upon completing a degree in petroleum engineering, geophysics, chemical engineering, geology, or other petroleum-related fields. Students from Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and other countries as recommended by UNOCAL are given preference. Sons and daughters of qualified UNOCAL foreign national employees will receive priority consideration.
Award: When funding is available, the fellowship covers costs of attendance including but not limited to tuition, fees, room and board, insurance, and transportation.
Summary: The award is made on the basis of merit and financial need, and may be given to the same student for multiple years during which he/she is enrolled in and continues to make satisfactory progress toward a degree in a petroleum-related field. Contact the International Student and Scholar Services Office for details on applying.
