I
grew up in a small town in Oklahoma with lots of plains and farmland.
And, what do you know, my neck is red most of the year, and I wear
boots to weddings, but Coloradoans don't notice the accent, because
it's pretty near the same.
I attended undergrad
at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, CO and have a degree in
physics. My interests and research have centered on helping to accommodate
the increasing demands of both world energy needs and natural stability.

I've always just wanted to help people, and find myself with a sense
of futility volunteering in soup kitchens and ecoclubs. As I am
passionate, I might have tried to be a politician, but I don't care
for the spotlight, nor vocal critiques of my nature. Thus, I have
found refuge in science where the emphasis is a little bit closer
to "what you know".
I graduated in 2002, after the nation had sunk rather hard to recession,
and I was denied employment from about everyone to whom I applied.
Thus, I decided to go to graduate school and enrolled at a California
school, spending a lot of time in the Bay. In about a year, I realized
that I really enjoyed many of the elements associated with life
in Colorado. So, I came to the Physics at the Colorado School of
Mines.
I have been researching low cost methods for creating electronic
devices, with an emphasis on photoelectrical energy conversion.
I've been drawn towards understanding many aspects of electrical
transport in both organic and inorganic materials, but cross daily
into various fields ranging from chemical engineering to computation.
I feel that I am researching a cutting edge body of knowledge, and
that my contribution could potentially render large advancements
in the field. Thus, I have plenty to motivate me.
Recreationally, I'm a skier, rafter, kayaker, hiker, biker, climber,
runner, etc. A true jack of all and pro at none. But, that's what
comes with mountains. Peace of mind just brought by the sight. Because
even on the most rainiest of days, if I just remember to look outside,
and awe at the beauty of it all, I can, in fact remember how blessed
I have been. That's a nice thing to have and I got it.
