I have a bachelor of science in Mathematics and Computer Science from the Colorado School of Mines.

While completing my undergraduate degree, people would ask me if I was going to go to graduate school. I would respond quickly saying, “No way!”

Well, during what I thought would be my last year at Mines I began working for the Graduate Admissions Office. I learned more about the programs here at Mines and decided to apply. Low and behold, I was accepted and here I am!

I am currently the Graduate Assistant for the Women in Science Engineering and Mathematics Program here at Mines, as well as a member of the Society of Women Engineers.

Outside of school and work, I love to play outdoors in the crazy Colorado weather. I enjoy snowboarding, skiiing, and sledding in the winter. When it's nice out, I love hiking here in Golden, as well as in Boulder. I enjoy going into Denver to catch a Rockies game, in the summer, or Broncos game in the colder months. I also take advantage of the wonderful intramural sports offered here on campus, continuing on the same team from a year before.

I have a large family whom are very important to me, so I travel back to Grand Junction often to visit. I just recently got a new chocolate Labrador puppy, who recieves most of my time and attention these days.

My experience with The Colorado School of Mines during my undergraduate degree was, you get out what you put in here at Mines. The more excited you are, and the more effort you put in, the more you will get out! The more involved you are, and the more time you put in, the more fun you will have.

This proves true for my graduate degree as well. The opportunities are there for you, the faculty and staff are supporting you, all you have to do, is run with it. I am excited to be here for a little longer, before I step out of the academic world.
