Printers are automatically configured to be used on Windows systems in ITS-supported computer labs. They can be accessed from any computer on campus with the instructions below. Features available vary depending on the system or application you are using when you generate the printout. From Windows-based PCs, you will generally select the Print option from within the application you are using. When the print panel is displayed, choose the printer you want to send your output to from the pull down list. Be sure to select the appropriate options on this panel. Press the Properties button for advanced options. Use the Print Preview option, if it is available, to verify margins and check how the output will look before you send the print request and are committed to paying for it. Common print options to consider include:

  • Number of Copies
  • Portrait or landscape mode
  • Print all pages in the document, the current page, or a range of pages
  • Paper type (media) and source
  • Duplex printing (if appropriate – flip along short side or long side)
  • Print quality or Resolution

See the OrePrint page for more detailed instructions.

Output from all ITS printers must be picked up and paid for at the printing site. Print cards, which are utilized to add credit to your printing account, may be purchased at the Mines Service Center (formerly the Technology Support Center). These may be used for printouts from OrePrint, OrePrint Color, or Kraken. All printouts printed with spelling, formatting, or other user errors are not subject to refunds. Additional printers are available in some teaching labs for in-class use only. Print queues and printouts for these printers are managed and distributed only during class time by faculty members teaching in the lab.
