A Capella

Our mission is to connect engineers who love to sing with a community of singers and to grow our skills as musicians.

Amateur Radio Club

The Mines Amateur Radio club is here to connect people who participate in the FCC licensed amateur radio hobby. No license is required to participate in any events although it can make some things easier. We will be hosting events such as parks on the air, summits on the air, school club roundup, CQ WPX and CQ WW contests, and winter field day just to name a few.

American Chemical Society

ACS is a dynamic organization dedicated to fostering a strong community of students interested in chemistry and related fields. Our chapter provides opportunities for professional development and networking, as well as hands-on experience in the chemical sciences. Through events such as guest speaker seminars, writing workshops, research presentations, community outreach, lab tours, trivia nights, tutoring, and more, we aim to promote scientific curiosity and innovation. Members also have access to national ACS resources, allowing them to connect with industry professionals, attend conferences, and enhance their academic and career prospects. American Conservation Coalition

ACC’s mission is to build the conservative environmental movement. We envision a cleaner, more prosperous world that fosters collaboration in the pursuit of environmental conservation. The American Conservation Coalition (ACC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to mobilizing young people around environmental action through common-sense, pro-innovation, and limited-government principles. ACC was founded in 2017 by a group of young conservatives who wanted to fill the ideological gap in the environmental movement that was preventing effective, durable action. We believe economic and environmental success go hand-in-hand and that everyone should feel empowered to take a seat at the table in discussions concerning conservation, clean energy, sportsmen’s rights, agriculture, climate, and more. ACC empowers young people who are tired of partisan inaction and equips them to build a better, more effective environmental movement for all Americans.

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) aims to “ignite and celebrate aerospace ingenuity and collaboration, and its importance to our way of life.” As a student branch of AIAA, AIAA at CSM aims to do the same within the Mines community and provide a network for students and staff to be linked to the broader aerospace community, develop leadership and professional skills, and be inspired by opportunities and projects in the aerospace field.

American Nuclear Society

The American Nuclear Society at Colorado School of Mines is the professional organization for students involved in nuclear science and engineering disciplines. It serves both as a platform for professional development and networking as well as a force for outreach to further educate the public about the benefits of nuclear power and nuclear technology broadly. The club is dedicated to providing social opportunities for its members as well as enabling connection with the broader nuclear workforce and doing outreach and education at all levels, from K-12 to legislative.

To encourage interest in Japanese culture through the Japanese animation medium. To educate members on various aspects of the history of Japanese animation through the Japanese animation medium. To assist students at the Colorado School of Mines in attending various anime conventions.

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Club

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Club aims to foster a collaborative environment for students interested in the vast domain of machine learning. The club seeks to promote understanding, research, and application of machine learning concepts. AI/ML at Mines strives to provide resources, mentorship, workshops, competitions, and projects to help members learn about artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques, ethics, and advancements. It’s a platform for sharing knowledge, collaborating on projects, and staying updated with the latest breakthroughs.

Association for Computing Machinery – Women (ACM-W)

ACM-W is the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)’s committee on Women in Computing. It celebrates, informs and supports women in computing, and works with the ACM-W community of computer scientists, educators, employers and policy makers to improve working and learning environments for women.
The purpose of this club (the Mines chapter of ACM-W) is to provide a way for women in computing to achieve the following goals:
1. Get together with other Mines women who are interested in computing (meetings, social events, and/or computing-related activities – both on and off campus).
2. Spread our interest in computing to the community through outreach activities that help show others what computer science means to us.

Ballroom Dance Club

To introduce students and community members of Golden to the different styles of ballroom and vernacular dancing by providing group lessons and performance team opportunities as well as social dances and information about dancing on the Front Range to advance the number and skill of aspiring and engaged dancers.

Backcountry Excursion Project @ Mines

The purpose of Backcountry Excursion Project @ Mines is to foster a community of outdoor and backcountry enthusiasts who share a passion for exploration, adventure, and environmental stewardship and safety. We aim to promote workload-physical wellness balance, personal growth, and a deeper connection with nature through organized backpacking and other Wilderness/Backcountry trips. Our club encourages camaraderie, respect for the wilderness, and responsible outdoor ethics in pursuit of the goal to ensure that all members can safely and confidently enjoy the beauty of the primitive world, regardless of their skill level, financial ability, or knowledgeability.

BioBuilders

 BioBuilders @ Mines was created to help foster creation through biology and provide interdisciplinary work and research opportunities for the Mines community. We plan to host classes, projects, and implement a team to compete and travel to the iGEM competition to explore the world of synthetic biology in a collaborative way. Ultimately, as a student-run organization, we aim to provide opportunities for students to learn from one another about biological research by giving the space, resources, and support to do so.

Biomechanics

Mines Biomechanics is a design-based club modeled after the existing Human Centered Design Studio, a Senior-level Capstone program. Mines Biomechanics will allow the opportunity for all years to engage in similar projects having to do with Human
Centered Design. As this club is open to all majors and years of the Colorado School of Mines, we aim to apply all specialties to client specific projects that concern the biomedical applications of engineering. This club will foster the design process indoctrinated by the Colorado School of Mines and will be team oriented in the entirety of the design process. Everything from our problem definitions to our final solution and product development will be all inclusive to club members and any unique abilities accompanying varying majors or years are welcome.

The Brain Exercise Initiative is a student run non-profit organization that uses math, reading and writing as a form of cognitive development for the elderly. Through these exercises, we aim to improve the memory and condition of those with Alzheimer’s.

Brasileir@s is a club that intends to bring the Brazilian students and Brazilian enthusiasts of Mines together. Through this club, Brazilian students and enthusiasts can meet each other regularly throughout the semester and take part in activities that will be centered around the Brazilian culture and tradition. Our club intends to provide members with the opportunity to share their love for Brazil, eat Brazilian food, celebrate Brazilian holidays and culture, and participate in any other activities they wish to engage in. Caving Club

Safely teach individuals interested in caving the necessary skills to do the sport safely. Then introduce members who can cave safely to those who are leading trips to a cave. Additionally, our mission includes instruction on basic first aid relevant to wilderness survival, as well as various caving techniques included but not limited to teaching vertical techniques, chimneying, crawling, etc.

The purpose of MCC is to supply and educate the Mines community with cheese. This can be done with Bring Your Own Cheese meetings, educational field trips, free cheese for members, making cheese and studying cheese.

Chess Club

The Chess Club is an organization dedicated to providing a positive learning environment to enhance proficiency in Chess. The club’s overall goals are to teach members regardless of their skill level and background, ultimately encouraging one another and helping all members to improve. Fencing Club

The purpose of this organization includes, but is not limited to, exposure to and education of the sport of fencing at the Colorado School of Mines. ‘Fencing’ entails the épée, foil, and saber disciplines as defined, sanctioned, and regulated by the FIE governing body (Fédération Internationale d’Escrime). Mines Fencing Club has the additional purpose of encouraging and facilitating fencing competition and the refinement of fencing skills at the Colorado School of Mines.

Hindu YUVA

The mission of the Hindu YUVA Colorado School of Mines organization is to bring together both Hindu and non-Hindu students to raise awareness about what Hinduism is. As one of the largest and oldest religions in the world, we believe it is necessary that there be an organization on campus to represent the interests of the Hindu community present here.
We hope to create a comfortable atmosphere where students can come and celebrate their culture. We hope to achieve these goals by having team-building games, yoga and meditation, lively debates, and exciting debates and presentations at our weekly meetings. All in all, we want to build a small Hindu community within Colorado School of Mines so that students can come and discover a home away from home.

Helluva 4x4 Club (Formerly How High Off-Road Club)

The Colorado School of Mines How High Off-Road Club is centered on going off-roading on various trails both within our state and Utah. We also try to provide a good knowledge base for members who are having vehicle problems or wanting to complete an upgrade which is a little more advanced than what they are comfortable completing. Finally, our club also provides a way for people to enjoy the outdoors knowing they have people they can call should they have any issues and need help.

Hydrologic Sciences and Engineering

Hydrologic Science and Engineering (HSE) Club fosters connections within the academic program and the wider community. Infinity Club

Infinity Club will function on three main principles:
To create a safe and inclusive space for neurodivergent people and allies.
To provide neurodivergent people with support and a community.
To advocate for neurodiversity, and help educate the public on what neurodiversity is and what it means to be neurodivergent.
To achieve these goals, Infinity Club will plan regular socials and events where members can connect and network with other neurodivergent people, share resources and strategies, as well as allow members to “unmask” in a safe space. Workshops and informational meetings will also be planned based around educating and supporting members with neurodiversity related topics. Infinity Club will also maintain a forum/bulletin board, which will allow members to interact outside of scheduled meetings. Lastly, Infinity Club will run neurodiversity advocacy campaigns, with a goal of educating Mines students and faculty on the meaning of neurodiversity, to dispel many of its stereotypes and misconceptions, and to display what it truly means to be neurodiverse.

The ISPE club intends to provide students with a community of like-minded individuals who are interested in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, with no limitation on their major. International Society of Explosives Engineers

The International Society of Explosives Engineers (ISEE) is the world’s largest professional organization for explosives engineers. The Colorado School of Mines chapter promotes explosives engineering education through meetings, guest presentations, field trips, and attending the annual ISEE conference.

Material Advantage Chapter (CSMMAC)

The purpose of this Chapter shall be to promote among its members a self-sought increasing knowledge of metallurgy, ceramics, materials science, and engineering and all its branches and to instill a professional pride in their chosen life work. The Colorado School of Mines Material Advantage Chapter shall also promote a greater sense of fellowship among all student societies within the Department and provide a home for those students who have not joined student societies.

  1. Organization of meetings and activities which will increase participation among students in the Department, especially those who are new and/or underclassmen.
  2. Support attendance at departmental seminars.
  3. Promote professional meetings for the societies in the local area and relay relevant, presented information, which shall include but is not limited to: individual activities, scholarships, awards, conferences, etc.
  4. Continue the addition of other materials science related professional societies to the club and campus.
  5. The Club shall serve as a forum for which student concerns may be addressed relating to the George S. Ansell Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and Material Advantage

The purpose of the Mines 9 Square Club is to bring together a community of students who enjoy playing the game, 9 Square. Through this, people can make new friends and have fun every once in a while. Mines Hike for Help

Hike for Help is a small, local Nonprofit that does public sanitation and community development in the Khumbu Valley (Everest Region) of Nepal in partnership with Colorado School of Mines. Since its inception, Hike for Help has overseen the construction of public restrooms, the restoration of local trails, and the development of a public workshop to build and sell local crafts. These projects, along with many others, have allowed for Economic and Social advancement of the Sherpa and other Local people. Hike for Help is a non-profit organization established in 2011, focused on implementing self-sustaining service projects in impoverished regions of Nepal. With this goal in mind, Hike for Help coordinates cultural treks to the Khumbu valley to provide support for local villages in their pursuit of development.

Hike for Help projects rely on community input and action from start to finish. Our motto, “Self Enabling Help” drives our project strategy. All projects ideas are generated by community members through small committees and local government officials.

Mine Rescue

Our mission is to educate students and community members about mine safety and emergency response related to Mine Rescue. Develop specialized rescue skills from underground rescue, fire-fighting, to high angle rope rescue. We also train and compete in medical emergency response and other life-saving skills.

Minecraft @ Mines

This organization exists for the purpose of the following:

  • To provide community access to fair, free, and open Minecraft servers requested by the members of the club.
  • To provide an overall enjoyable experience to the members of the club as well as others who may interact with us outside of the club, especially with regards to the club.
  • To provide objectives and activities to this clubs community on each server to enhance the experience and engagement of the players on the servers.

Mines Competition Mining Team

The Mining Competition Team competes in the Intercollegiate Mining Games to honor traditional mining techniques and those that lost their lives in the 1972 Sunshine Mine Disaster. Mines Biomechanics

Mines Biomechanics is a design-based club modeled after the existing Human Centered Design Studio, a Senior-level Capstone program. Mines Biomechanics will allow the opportunity for all years to engage in similar projects having to do with Human

The purpose of the Club is to foster a community of golf enthusiasts at the Colorado School of Mines. The CSM Slackline Club is an outdoor recreation community at Mines centered around the balance sport of Slacklining. We do all different kinds of slacklining on and off-campus. Society of Women in Geosciences

The Society of Women in Geosciences Chapter at the Colorado School of Mines serves:
– to foster a supportive community for both the undergraduate and graduate women in all
Geoscience departments at the Colorado School of Mines,
– to advance the influence of women in geoscience across Mines Geoscience
Departments and the extended campus,
– to provide an avenue for both informal and formal networking through discussion forums,
regular meetings and casual meet and greet events,
– to organize and administer the activities and events focused on fulfilling the listed
purposes above and
– to provide opportunity for speakers who can serve as role models for SWIG members as
they decide career paths and opportunities.

Society of Women in Physics

The Society of Women in Physics (SWiP) is an organization that is open to undergraduate and graduate students at Mines aimed at supporting marginalized gender groups in the Engineering Physics department. The group is open to everyone on campus (not just women and physics majors). The group meets monthly and has ~15 varied attendees. Monthly meeting topics consist of salary negotiations, graduate school advice, research presentations, and social events. The club supports members to go to the yearly Conference for Undergraduate Women and Gender Minorities in Physics to experience unique networking and professional development opportunities. SWiP partners with the other physics organizations (SPS and Sigma Pi Sigma) to provide a wide variety of volunteering and advancement opportunities. A signature event that SWiP participates in is the Girls Lead the Way volunteering event with SWE.

Softball Club

The purpose is for students to come together to play, practice, and enjoy the sport of softball, as well as to hang out together, creating a sense of community between members. If possible, games or scrimmages will occur.

South Asian Student Association

The purpose of South Asian Student Association (SASA) is to foster a cultural exchange between students and to celebrate the rich culture and heritage of South Asian countries. These specific countries include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. This organization serves as a platform for people of South Asian heritage to share traditions, customs, festivals, and cuisine with the college. The association fosters community for South Asian students on campus providing a sense of belonging students on campus, providing a sense of belonging and an opportunity to form long lasting friendships. On campus, SASA will host events, worships and activities and display the diversity and rich culture that South Asian students hold. Off campus, SASA provides a collective who will meet for social gatherings and for long term relationships to edify their experience on campus as well. This organization also serves an educational purpose by offering presentations and networking opportunities by connecting with fellow students, alumni, and professionals who are associated with South Asia. These benefits are important for academic and career development as well as growing both knowledge and connections. Overall, by hosting cultural events such as festivals, food, and movie nights, and building community through friendships and networking, SASA aims to strengthen relationships in the South Asian community in order to make campus more inclusive and exciting.

Structural Engineering Club

A club organized to celebrate, engage, and learn in structural engineering. This club will provide students with access to networking opportunities, industry exploration, supplemental studying, and socialization with their peers. We will hope to collaborate with SEAC (Structural Engineering Association of Colorado) and SEI GSC (Structural Engineering Institute Graduate Student Chapter), both of which will be sub-committees under our overlying club status.

Student Society of Geophysicists (SSG)

The purpose of SSG is to promote interest in, and knowledge of, the science of geophysics and related fields through technical talks by industry professionals, career talks by Colorado School of Mines (CSM) alumni, and social events to strengthen the community. The purpose of SSG also includes promoting and financially supporting student attendance at conferences and maintaining industry-student relations.

Mines Tae Kwon Do Family Club

To engage students in learning martial arts, whether it be a new interest or a continuing passion. Develop better concentration, management skills, flexibility and create a harmonious environment for learning and supporting each other. Practices will be led as a group of friends going over techniques and weekly outings to The Golden Tae Kwon Do Family Center Studio in Golden to further develop knowledge of skills.

The Alt Protein Group

The Mines Alt Protein Project is a nexus for the academic efforts fundamental to building the alternative protein movement. The project is all about creating connections — between tissue engineers and food scientists, entrepreneurial business students and technical innovators, principal investigators and the next generation of research talent.
Most importantly, The Mines Alt Protein Project connects members with the right ideas, questions, and opportunities that will help accelerate a global transition. The result is a network of academic institutions that prioritize plant-based, cultivated, and fermentation-enabled protein. This network helps provide this growing alt protein sector with the institutional resources and human ingenuity it needs to scale and feed the world sustainably.

Transfer Student Association

The Transfer Student Association (TSA) at Mines intends to provide a community for transfer students that promotes a supporting and uplifting environment and connects students to other transfer students. As well as informing them of resources available to them and any general information about Mines that might have missed being a transfer student. Through this club transfer students can meet other transfer students and come together to share their experiences and knowledge in a safe place. TSA intends to provide outreach to incoming transfer students and build a diverse community of students stemming from different backgrounds, and from different schools to share their experience through social events, support and general meetings.

Undergraduate Research Student Scholars Organization (URSSO)

The Undergraduate Research Scholars Student Organization serves to provide an environment where students with varying majors are united by their common interest in undergraduate research. The organization will foster a community for researchers to advance their academic growth and professional development. Meetings will be varied, but will often consist of a short business segment, learning sessions, professional development opportunities, and networking or social time. Members will have opportunities including but not limited to scholarships, research projects, funding, and upcoming events or conferences.

Underground Construction Association

Underground Construction Association is a student organization at Colorado School of Mines,
an approved body by the Colorado School of Mines and Society of Mineral and Exploration ie
and the national organization of Mining and Underground Construction Association. This
organization aims to introduce industry practices and innovation to Underground Construction
and Tunnel Engineering students in particular and other interested students in general through
presentations by industry experts in Lunch & Learn sessions. This organization also serves as
a platform to provide networking opportunities to students with professionals through various
networking events. This organization also provides networking and social events for its

Womens Club Basketball Team

The Colorado School of Mines Women’s Basketball Team is the governing body organized under these bylaws to promote and support the sport of basketball in Golden, Colorado. The goals of the Colorado School of Mines Women’s Basketball Team are to develop individual players; organize team competition; develop teams that are competitive in the “Heart of America and Gateway” regions and at the national level; and provide education and assistance to the public regarding the sport of basketball.
