Academic Coaching

ACADEMIC COACHING with CASA

Sometimes students may lack the fundamental skills necessary to succeed at college. More often than not, this is at no fault of the student. Secondary education varies dramatically in the preparation provided to students. Accordingly, many students arrive at Mines needing some additional assistance. To some degree, nearly all students at Mines need to work and reevaluate their academic skills.

Working with Our Office

The CASA staff work to support students by addressing individual need(s). Often academic coaching work includes:

  • test-preparation techniques
  • test-taking skills
  • study guide development
  • key concept identification
  • note-taking rules
  • and much more

Students accepted into academic coaching work with CASA Academic Advising Coordinators (ACC) to address, learn, or establish behaviors in one of the topics listed above. Academic coaching is an agreed upon mutual effort between the student and AAC to improve an academic skill set.

Is academic Coaching Right For You?

Once open, please fill out our academic coaching interest form. The first meeting with us is an initial intake. At that time, we identify issues or concerns and mutually agree upon a forward direction in academic coaching or other student support service at Mines.

We will begin accepting Academic Coaching Interest Forms on September 9, 2024.
