Dr. Lakshmi Krishna is the founding director of the Office of Undergraduate Research Scholars, which is housed within ​the University Honors and Scholars Programs (UHSP). Dr. Krishna started her career at Mines in 2011 as a postdoctoral associate. In her current role, she is passionate about providing opportunities for our students to participate in high-impact practices such as Undergraduate Research and truly enjoys interacting with and mentoring students. 

Dr. Krishna serves as a faculty advisor for Reuleaux, Mines Undergraduate Research Journal, and the Undergraduate Research Student Scholar Organization (URSSO). As a Mines Diversity, Inclusion, and Access (DIA) ambassador since the Fall 2020, she also facilitates conversations on mitigating implicit bias and minimizing microaggressions with the Mines community and training the next cohort of DIA ambassadors. Dr. Krishna served as an elected councilor representing the Physics and Astronomy division on the Council on Undergraduate Research. In addition to broadening participation in undergraduate research, Dr. Krishna is passionate about helping children and is a certified foster care provider with the Denver Human Services.
