Partners in the Parks: Appalachian Trail
Allie Morton
A moment I remember quite well was on our last night of the trip. After we filled our stomachs to our heart’s content at a buffet-style restaurant, we sat in a circle by the campfire and told stories of how the trip impacted us. Everyones’ takeaway was drastically different. From Lee’s impressions of us, to Aubre’s desire to enter environmental journalism, I realized that nature has a wild way of influencing us, and of ultimately connecting us. We were quite vulnerable with each other, despite having only known each other for a week. We shared hugs and wept tears over a week we would not forget, surrounded by the majestic trees of Georgia, and compassionate company. It felt magical.
