New Employee Experience
Welcome to Mines:
We are glad you made the choice to join the Mines community!
A new employee’s first days, weeks and months are filled with new information and lots of questions. Your success begins with an organized onboarding experience that facilitates learning and fosters connections with fellow employees.
Onboarding:
The onboarding journey will begin once you accept your offer via Workday. Once the offer is accepted, if required, HR will move your status to background check and you will receive an email from our background vendor – Orange Tree. Please promptly submit your information for the background check process which, depending on the position, may include education verification, criminal history, employment verification, and physical/drug assessments. New hires are not able to start working at Mines until this process has been completed and the results have been reviewed.
Onboarding Tasks:
Next, if approved, HR will move your application to the completion stage. From there, the Mines Administrative Processing Services Office (MAPS) will notify you 3-7 days prior to your start date with information about your onboarding tasks. This communication will be sent to the email address you provided in your application. Your onboarding tasks will populate in your Workday inbox on your first day of employment for completion. Here is a link to instructions of how to complete your Workday onboarding tasks.
New Employee Orientation:
All employees are required to attend New Employee Orientation (NEO). This orientation includes an introduction to Mines, its systems, and optional activities that occur throughout the first quarter of employment and is not intended to replace departmental onboarding. Human Resources will invite all new employees to NEO, which takes place every two weeks. Click here for a link to the NEO schedule. Email learning_development@mines.edu with any questions.
Benefits:
Academic and Administrative Faculty will be invited to a Benefits orientation on the Wednesday following their new employee orientation. Classified staff will receive an email from our benefits department within their first week of employment with information about the State of Colorado employee benefits enrollment process. If you need a one-on-one Benefits orientation, please email benefits@mines.edu.
