Friends of Mines Museum – Speaker Series

Join the Friends of Mines Museum of Earth Science for their bi-monthly speaker series, featuring special guest, professor and owner of the White Raven Mine, Dr. Markus Raschke.  Program title: “Xuebaoding – mining above the clouds at the edge of the Tibetan Plateau.”  View the complete Abstract here.  Light refreshments will be served.  Talk will be hosted in the classroom across the hall from the museum, GRL201.  Reservations not required.  Non-members are also welcome!

Markus Raschke is professor of physics and material science at the University of Colorado. His research is in laser science and the development of new optical microscopy techniques to resolve the quantum nature of materials at the atomic level. In parallel he pursues alpine mineral prospecting with a scientific interest in mineralogy and rare-earth geology with projects in North America and China. For his work he has been recognized as fellow by the Optical Society of America, the American Physical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Explorers Club.
