EMERGENCY / SERVICE OUTAGE MEMORANDUM

Outage Date: April 14, 2025
Outage Time: 5:00 AM – 6:00 AM
Purpose: Removal of temporary chiller on loading dock.
System(s) Involved: Electrical Power, Laboratory Ventilation, Building Heating and Cooling, Process Cooling.
Effect(s) on Occupants: For the electrical outage, power down computers and equipment.
– Electrical power in the building will be off for the duration of the outage.
– Building heating and cooling will be off.
– Laboratory exhaust ventilation will be off.
– Process cooling will not be available.
For the impaired laboratory exhaust ventilation prepare as follows:
– Cease all work with chemicals during the maintenance period.
– Shut down experiments that generate hazardous contaminants (particulates, dust, ozone, etc.) and heat.
– Close all chemical containers and properly store them, including those within the laboratory hoods.
– Verify your waste containers are closed.
– Submit full waste containers for waste pickup.
– Close/lower the sash on your chemical hood.
– Close all gas cylinder valves except for inert gases such as nitrogen and argon.
