Green Office Program
The Mines Green Office Certification Program is aimed at reducing the campus environmental footprint, one office at a time. The Green Office Certification Program includes a point-based, self-assessment checklist which offices use to assess their current practices and set goals for improvement based on results of the self-assessment.
How to Get Started:
Get the checklist, email Lauren Poole at poole@mines.edu.
Complete the checklist. A Green Office assistant can help your office identify sustainable actions and answer questions. Each action earns points. The checklist auto-calculates points based on your answers.
Email your submission. Send your completed checklist to the Sustainability Office for review.
Get your certificate. Certificates are awarded for Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum levels. Offices are allowed to re-apply to move to the next level.
Brad Avenia, Director of Facilities , and Rob Thompson, Director of Recreational Sports at Mines, received a Green Office Certificate for a Silver Rating. The Student Recreation Center’s additional sustainability measures include a recently installed 186 kW solar array on the roof and energy-efficient hand dryers in the bathrooms to reduce paper towel waste
