
HOW TO APPLY (AND IMPORTANT DATES)
Use this template, and apply by November 3rd (for Fall graduation) or March 28th (for Spring graduation) by sending your application and artifacts in an email titled “SE@M Application” to info_SE@Mines.edu.
- Ensure all documentation and requirements are complete. Include:
- A table demonstrating how activities from each category (LEARN, PRACTICE, BUILD COMMUNITY) ad up to at least 60 points.
- A brief description of all major activities, your role, and learnings/takeaways from each activity
- Artifacts such as photos, weblinks, offer letters, recommendations letters, or files etc.
- Transcript for coursework and GPA
- A successful application will show a portfolio of activities that is squarely in the renewable and sustainable energy space, successful performance in energy-related coursework, and explicit linkages between time committed to activities and impact.

WHY SHOULD I JOIN?

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ’s)
IS THIS THE SAME AS AN ENERGY MINOR OR ASI?
SE@M and Energy Minor and ASI share coursework and related activities but in contrast with most minors, SE@M offers a unique pathway experience that allows for flexible learning.
WHAT INTERNSHIPS WILL BE APPROVED?
We have shared list of some companies, NGOs, and local governments that strive for sustainable projects here. However, this is not a comprehensive list so if you have an internship that covers topics related to sustainable energy, you can also get the appropriate points.
IS THIS ONLY FOR CERTAIN MAJORS?
No, SE@M is open for all undergraduate majors at Mines.
WOULD THIS BE SHOWN ON MY TRANSCRIPT?
At this moment no, but we are working on options to make this happen, stay tuned!
CAN I GRADUATE WITH BOTH SE@M AND UNDERGRAD RESEARCH SCHOLAR DISTINCTIONS?
Absolutely, as long as you meet both requirements.
