Quantitative methods in heavy industry

The student would work with a real steel mill to improve its scheduling operations; we have contacts at the mill who provide actual data and industry knowledge. We work with a team of researchers who specialize in statistical modeling, coding, and optimization. The project lead is a professor in thermal fluids/solid mechanics.

MENTORING PLAN
We have numerous students, as well as graduated students working on the project. The students would lean from them, as well as from the two professors in charge (Newman, Thomas). We have a group meeting at least once a week and there could be individual meetings, as needed.
